On the sixth and final day of our journey (which crowns this week of prayer), we dedicate ourselves to gratitude — a final prayer of praise and thanks to God. After days of making supplications, requests, and desires, it is only right and healthy to look back at all that the Lord has done and continues to do in our lives, and say from the bottom of our hearts: thank you very much, my God!
Padre Pio lived in constant thanksgiving, even in the midst of difficulties. He was aware that everything is grace and that we are never alone in our struggles.
Throughout these days, you have trusted in the help of your guardian angel, and have begged for healing, prosperity, protection, and peace. Regardless of whether you have already noticed visible changes or not, believe that God has heard each prayer and, at the right time, will respond in the wisest and most loving way.
“God of love and kindness, I come to the end of this seven-day journey with my heart overflowing with gratitude. How can I not thank you for all the graces you have granted me throughout this spiritual Lent? Thank you, Lord, for having been with me in every prayer, for having heard every plea—even those that I could not express well in words, but that the Holy Spirit brought to you with ineffable groans.
I thank you, Heavenly Father, for the gift of life, for my family, for my faithful Guardian Angel, for the faith that you have sown in me, and for all the times that you have supported me without my realizing it. Thank you for the cures that you have performed—whether visible or hidden. If my health has improved, I praise you joyfully; if I still await a complete cure, I praise you too, because I trust that you are acting and giving me strength each day.
I thank you for the providence that has not let me lack what I need; I recognize that everything good that I have came from your generous hands. Thank you for the deliverances and protection granted to my family, often through the intercession of the Saints and Angels. Lord, thank you so much for the peace I now feel in my chest. Perhaps there are still battles to fight, but today I realize that I am not alone — You walk with me, holding my hand. Blessed are You because You are faithful and keep Your promises!
Just as the Blessed Virgin Mary sang in her Magnificat, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,” I also want to magnify You with my simple words: Blessed are You, O God of my life, today and always!
Thank you, Jesus, for inspiring Saint Padre Pio to be an instrument in my spiritual life. I am grateful for each of his teachings that touched me on this path: his words resonated in my heart, giving me the courage to pray and persevere. “Pray, have faith, and do not worry” — I will carry with me this precious motto of Padre Pio, trusting ever more in You.
I also thank you, Lord, for giving me Mary as my loving mother — how many times have I felt her affection throughout these days! Thank you, Heavenly Mother, for interceding for me and covering me with your mantle of protection. I thank the holy angels, especially my guardian angel, for their constant assistance. How many dangers have I avoided, how many inspirations have I received! I bless you, Father, for creating these beings of light to guard us.
In this moment of final gratitude, I give you my entire being. Everything I have and am comes from you and returns to you. If I have any talent, any fruitful work, if I have achieved any victory in these days, I attribute it all to your grace. All honor and glory be given to you, Lord! I also want to thank you for the future you have prepared for me. I do not know what will come, but I know it will be filled with your presence. From now on, I praise you for the blessings you will still pour out and even for the crosses you allow, because I believe that you will be with me in everything for my good.
Finally, I ask that you receive my humble thanks as a perfume of gratitude that rises to your altar. May it join the eternal thanks that Jesus, your Son, offers in heaven for us, and thus be pleasing to you. Thank you very much, my God, for everything. I love you and trust in you. May I be able to witness your wonders and always continue in prayer, not only in these seven days, but every day of my life. Amen!”
