On the first day of our journey, we turn our hearts to the friendly and protective presence of our Guardian Angel. God, in his infinite goodness, has assigned each of us a heavenly angel to guide and protect us on all our paths.
Padre Pio had deep confidence in this invisible companion. We are never alone: our Guardian Angel is by our side in our daily struggles, inspiring us to do good and protecting us from dangers, both physical and spiritual.
In this prayer of connection, we will draw closer to our Guardian Angel, ask for forgiveness for the times we have ignored his presence, and beg him to lead us more firmly to God. Open your heart to feel the faithful company of your angel in this moment of prayer.
“Holy Guardian Angel, my protector appointed by God since the beginning of my life, I thank you for never having abandoned me. You, who are a reflection of the divine light at my side, illuminate me in moments of darkness and guide me on the path of righteousness. Angel of God, friend and spiritual brother, I ask your forgiveness for all the times I have forgotten you or ignored your inspirations. I know that you watch over me without ceasing, even when I sleep or when my heart is troubled.
At this moment, I wish to renew my friendship and devotion to you, my guardian. Stay by my side while I pray, unite yourself to my prayer and present it to the Throne of the Most High with your pure love. Divine guardian of my soul, strengthen my faith and protect me against the snares of the evil one and the dangers of the world. When I waver, sustain me; when I stray, bring me back to the path of God.
Lull my spirit with hope — just as you did with Padre Pio on nights of trial — and Awaken me each day to praise the Lord with fervor. Holy Angel of the Lord, teach me to listen to your silent voice, to the inspirations that you place in my heart in the name of God. May I be docile to your warnings and advice, so that I may always live in divine grace.
Stay with me, my guardian, today and always. Bring my intentions and needs before God the Father and do not allow me to despair in difficult times. With your heavenly help, I want to walk with confidence, knowing that heaven is with me at every moment of my life. My guardian angel, take care of me as you took care of Padre Pio, and help me to grow in holiness. Together in prayer, we praise God who created us and loves us. Amen.”
